It became clear at Odoo Experience 2026: manufacturing in Odoo is maturing significantly with version 20. As they do every year, our manufacturing consultants attended the masterclasses and all sessions covering the new features in Odoo manufacturing—improvements that directly impact what happens on the shop floor. In a series of three blog posts, we walk you through the highlights of this leap forward.
Moving through the factory faster

Almost every manufacturing company faces the same dilemma: inventory levels must be sufficient to ensure rapid delivery to customers, yet kept as low as possible to avoid tying up cash flow. One of the critical factors in achieving an optimal balance is minimizing lead times. Lead time is not just about how quickly you produce, but also about how long work sits idle—and this is precisely where Odoo 20 delivers gains.
Continuous production:
Don’t wait until an entire batch is finished
In previous versions, each production step had to be fully completed before the next one could begin. With version 20, Odoo enables continuous production. Continuous production allows you to move a portion of the quantity forward, enabling the next step to start sooner. This results in less waiting time, reduced work-in-progress, and faster delivery to your customer. It provides flexibility, bridging the gap between batch production and one-piece flow.
Production order Kanban view
The Kanban view, which was previously added as a custom feature for clients, is now standard. Production orders can now be viewed by scheduled week, with each card indicating whether the necessary components are available. This allows you to see at a glance which orders are at risk of being held up due to material shortages, enabling you to intervene in time.
